inspired by the facebook post
of quilting daily, featuring reverse applique by Carol Sloan, I forgot how much fun it is to stitch and the carefully cut open the top layer to reveal the layer underneath. I am almost finished with this one.
inspired by Janet Bolton
Janet Bolton and Jane La Fazio's class on Sunday, I have started this piece, using an antique lace handkerchief purchased in Cambria during the holidays. Just in the laying out stage right now, but am liking how it is progressing.
kitchen curtains
close up of the silk, used for kitchen curtains--really not the best choice for curtains! but I still like the fabric.......
inspired by the "travelers blanket"
in the Dec/Jan issue of Quilting Arts, Dijanne Cevaal is featured and shows a wonderfully hand stitched quilt, small pieces of fabrics, rough stitches eventually forming a quilt with fabrics from her many travels. So, I have begun, using fabrics from the travels of my life--

playing in my journal
and the last post for this weeks creative adventures.....playing in my journal--just for fun. If you haven't, go purchase a cheap journal, and then play. It is so "freeing" no one ever has to see it, you can tear out the pages if you want. Paint, draw, color, paste-just do art!! This isn't your "masterpiece" this isn't to sell, doesn't need to meet any expectations, just play and create.
apron #5
I think this is my 5th apron--3rd one using my very own Spoonflower fabric. Using fushia trim with black ric-rac. Still designing the pocket placement, etc.
small art quilt
This small 8x10 art quilt is made in blues, greens, sheers, cotton and my own painted and stamped fabrics. It is about calmness and serenity. Artistically, I was exploring the Rule of Thirds in placement. Think tic-tac-toe grid on your art and then use that as a guide for placement of interesting color, objects, stitching, etc.
valentine's day play
2 of my favorite blogs to follow, Jane La Fazio and Alisa Burke posted on painting rocks for valentines day--so I got bitten by the "bug". I painted the rocks with white acrylic, then added acrylic paints of purple, pink and red. Next, I drew on designs with my Painters Pen, and added glittery hearts that have sticky back adhesive (leftover supplies from Christmas, cut into heart shapes)
Happy Valentine's day to my readers and blog followers. May your day be filled with much love and happiness.
