highlight of the weekend

This last weekend I helped sew 100 school bags for  Disaster Relief for our church and UMCOR    Our goal was to get 100 bags sewn, we almost made it--I am stitching handles on 10 here at home and a few other women took the rest to finish.  What a rewarding day!

dancing girl

the dancing girl still is my muse....wonder if/when I will tire of her??  this is playing with the repetition of the circle, small, medium, large, (water color, pencil, stamps, acrylic and permanent marker)  In case you can't see, her red headband has black circles/dots.

a few more photos of the artist reception at OMA

Artist Reception at Oceanside Musuem of Art

The Prayer Flag Project   and Quilt National is at the OMA until Feb.  Go check it out.  Here are a few photos of me and my Prayer flag and the reception.

small hand-sitched piece

mixed media, paper, fabric, stamps, stencils, embroidery

first attempt at 8 unrelated items

I tried to use an item or method from all of the supplies/tools/paints/markers on my art table-but realized too late, that I had reused similar colors, although different mediums (marker, penciled colors, acrylic, water color, paper)

sketching and painting

inspired by the quick video clip made by Jane Davies for cabinet of curiousities--actually it was quite a challenge to make 8 random items without connecting colors, themes-amazing how the eye wants to add a color or shape so the items "talk" to each other--
